Nature of Severe Anxiety Disorder
Understanding the Nature of Severe Anxiety Disorder
In order to live a healthy life we must consider not only the physiological body, but the psychological body as well. There are a number of diseases and ailments that can have a negative impact on a person’s quality of life. Many of these diseases present themselves physically, in the form of disease, cancers, and neurological disorders, and are incredibly detrimental to a person’s ability to function physically. In other cases, however, the cause of the illness psychological (mental or emotional) but presents itself to the outside world with physical symptoms. One of these conditions is known as severe anxiety disorder.
Severe anxiety disorder begins with extreme fear which, if uncontrolled, begins to have a number of severe physical reactions on the body as well. In most cases severe anxiety disorder is triggered by a specific cause, but in some cases seems to be out of the blue. It’s important to determine the cause in order to diagnose the right anxiety disorder and properly treat it.
Types of Severe Anxiety Disorders
There are several different types of severe anxiety disorder, each with its own set of physical and psychological characteristics. The characteristics that present themselves are used by doctors to determine exactly which type of disorder a person has and what treatment method is most appropriate. General anxiety disorder is one of the most common types of severe anxiety disorder. Sufferers of GAD often experience symptoms, including stress, depression, and fear, for a period of six months or more before receiving a diagnosis.
Another type of severe anxiety disorder is the phobia. Phobias are a reaction to a very specific fear. For example, someone who is afraid of spiders may have a severe panic or anxiety attack when seeing a small spider in his or her home. This fear may become paralyzing.
Acute anxiety is a form of severe anxiety disorder that often presents itself for a limited period of time after a traumatic event. Symptoms can last for as short as a month or as long as a year or more. Symptoms of this type of disorder often dissipate after the sufferer has been able to work through his emotions surrounding the triggering event.
Panic disorders fall into the severe anxiety disorder category as well. Individuals who fear a certain social situation or challenge may suddenly have a panic attack when faced with certain scenarios. Panic attacks often occur very suddenly and their symptoms can sometimes be life threatening. Symptoms include hyper vigilance, high blood pressure, seizures, and even heart attacks.
It’s incredibly important to properly diagnose the type of anxiety disorder a person has before beginning treatment. Anxiety disorder tests and diagnostic observation are both helpful to both the patient and the doctor. Often these initial consultations help the doctor not only understand the severity of the condition, but whether or not the patient is aware of the severity as well. While some fear that being diagnosed with a severe anxiety disorder will place a social stigma upon them, this is not the case. Proper diagnosis is essential to the well-being of someone suffering from anxiety, and the symptoms require immediate medical attention.
You may want to find a way to cure your anxiety at its “root-cause”, which is not in physiological (body) but in psychological. Modern medication is good in a way to treat anxiety in short time; but despite the effectiveness of modern medications, they are known to have their side-effects. The best natural way to cure anxiety is by doing self-help therapy by yourself.
